Dundee Therapy Garden

The Dundee Therapy Garden in the old bowling green in the park is up and running and are looking for some volunteers to help them. They offer help and support to ex military and ex emergency services personnel.  At the moment they would like to recruit gardening, cookery and mental health volunteers.  Please have a look at the information below which has the details of the posts and how you can get in touch with the group.

Dundee Therapy Garden is looking to expand its volunteer base here at our Dudhope Park site. We are a mental health charity working with ex-military and ex-emergency services personnel using horticultural therapy to improve the lives of our clients. Four days a week we work with our service users, on Fridays the gates are usually open for anyone to come in and look around. If you have an interest in working in a garden which benefits the local community then you might enjoy volunteering with us! We have a number of different volunteer roles available and if you think any of them might suit you – please get in touch with Michael and Zisky on 07483102448 or at

Mental Health Volunteer

We need people who are patient, kind and willing to listen to our clients. It can sometimes be challenging working with people suffering with severe mental health problems, but is also incredibly rewarding. Our mental health volunteers are asked to attend one day a week reliably as our service users like to know who they can expect to see in the garden on a given day.

Gardening volunteer

Our garden is fairly big and requires a lot of maintenance. It is sometimes hard for us to keep up with it while focusing on sessions. For this we require people who have a little horticultural knowledge or who are prepared to learn.

Cookery volunteer

Given that we have lots of fresh produce to eat, but we have very little time for cooking during sessions, we are in need of someone who enjoys cooking to prepare and eat lunches with us and our service users – and possibly teach the odd dish to interested clients!
